Practicing Safely

Grounded Acupuncture is thrilled to begin seeing patients again. We’ve all missed our regular appointments and can’t wait to return to continue working on long term issues, as well as newer complaints resulting from increased sitting, home office set-ups, and current environment stressors. To ensure your safety, Grounded Acupuncture will be following  guidelines put forth by the CDC, ASNY, CCAOM, and NY State. Here are those changes, intended to keep us all safe.

BEFORE YOUR VISIT
  • Your 30 hour appointment reminder emails now include a pre screening questionnaire for symptoms we will not be able to treat in the office, and for which you should contact us to cancel/reschedule and stay home.  These symptoms include:
    • Fever, cough, loss of taste or smell, new feelings of fatigue
    • Exposure to known positive Covid-19 case within 14 days
    • Travel -  https://coronavirus.health.ny.gov/covid-19-travel-advisory

ON ARRIVAL
  • Please wear a face mask or covering to all appointments. If you do not have one, a mask will be provided.
  • Upon entry to the clinic, please sanitize your hands. Sanitizer has been added to the waiting room, along with information about hand and cough hygiene.
  • After sanitizing your hands, please proceed directly into the treatment room with the open door. The waiting area is closed, please come to your appointment alone.
  • Forehead temperature taking will now be part of the intake process. If your temperature is 100.2 or above, I will not be able to treat you and you will be advised to contact your doctor.

DURING YOUR TREATMENT
Acupuncture treatments always include industry standard and governmental regulations for this medical profession. In addition to these everyday practices to keep patients safe, we've added some extra precautions at this time.
  • Masks worn by fully vaccinated practitioner.
  • All practitioners in the space will be screened for fever and any new symptoms at the beginning of each shift .
  • Linens have been removed from treatment tables.
  • If chilly, you will be provided with a personal “heat sheet” / “acupuncture blanket”, which you can take home and bring with you at each appointment. If you forget to bring back, I am able to provide you with a replacement for a small fee.

BETWEEN PATIENTS
  • Treatment room surfaces - including treatment table, desk, doorknobs, etc - will be cleaned with medical grade disinfectant before/after each shift and following every patient.
  • Windows will be opened before/after each shift and between each patient to allow fresh air circulation throughout the day.
  • Treatments will be spaced to minimize potential patient to patient interactions, as well as to allow ample time for thorough cleaning of the treatment room spaces.
These changes reflect current best practices for the acupuncture profession, as well as new state requirements, intended to minimize risks and keep us all safe. I know that changes may feel unfamiliar, so we want you to have this information so you can plan accordingly and our time together can be totally focused on you. Thank you for your cooperation and support.
We can’t wait to see you at the clinic!
